Frequently asked questions

With over 25 years of experience in holistic wellbeing and clinical therapy, every treatment is individually tailored to your physical and emotional health. Explore the guidance below to prepare for your time out.

How is clinical aromatherapy different from a standard massage or shop-bought oils?

Clinical aromatherapy goes far beyond relaxing scents or generic off-the-shelf blends. It is an evidence-informed therapeutic practice that considers your overall medical history, physical symptoms and emotional wellbeing.

Rather than applying pre-mixed oils, I formulate a bespoke synergistic blend tailored exclusively to you, taking into account essential oil chemistry, safe dilution levels and your individual health needs and concerns.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

Your treatment begins with a thoughtful consultation where we explore your lifestyle, health history, and what you hope to achieve. If you are having a hands-on massage treatment, you will enjoy a personalised, restorative treatment using your bespoke essential oil blend. For consultation-only clients, we focus entirely on detailed assessments and creating bespoke home-use blends.

How should I prepare for a massage treatment?

You do not need to bring any equipment with you. I advise wearing comfortable, loose clothing. Ideally, plan your day so you do not have a busy schedule immediately after your treatment , allowing your mind and body to float away for the rest of the day.

What post-treatment care do you recommend?

Drink plenty of fresh water following your treatment to assist your body's natural circulation. I also recommend leaving the bespoke oil blends on your skin for as long as possible rather than showering immediately. Please avoid any intense exercise, sauna or steam room for the rest of the day. If you will be in the direct sun or sun bathing please remove your oil and apply SPF.

Can clinical aromatherapy support pregnancy, menopause, or specific health conditions?

Yes. Clinical Aromatherapy offers valuable support across many life stages, including pregnancy, postpartum, perimenopause, menopause, palliative care, cancer care support and dementia.

I am also experienced in supporting neurodivergent individuals, including adults and children, as well as babies and children from 3 months upwards.

Are essential oils safe for everyone?

Some certain essential oils have contraindications with specific health conditions, medications, or stages of life. I hold a  formal clinical aromatherapy training so every formula is created with confidence and safety of the utmost priority.

How do consultation forms work for in-person and online sessions?

To ensure a safe and thorough treatment, consultation paperwork must be completed prior to your session. For online consultations or advance bookings, you will receive a digital consultation form to fill in beforehand so that I can review your health details and concerns in advance.

What is your cancellation policy and how are bespoke blends priced?

I understand that unexpected circumstances arise in life. I kindly request at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Repeated late cancellations within a short period will incur a cancellation fee. Bespoke take-home blends are always discussed thoroughly during your consultation, where individual pricing and remedies will be explained.
